The last few weeks we've been talking about finding client matches (reaching out and finding new clients), building those new relationships, and maintaining current client relationships. We've walked through how to create easy Google Surveys for clients or students to get their feedback, and we looked at how to create awesome webinar slides to introduce clients to your services or classes.
Today, we're going to take our walkthroughs a step further. Let's say that you're doing well in getting more clients or students, and you've noticed that several of them are loyal in coming to your business and staff for help. It's always great to tell them "Thank You" for choosing you as their service provider or instructor.
Imagine for one moment that you're a teacher and it's the last day of the semester. The class that you're administering a final exam to hasn't been the greatest in terms of behavior and work ethic, but you've tried hard to make sure you've clearly explained course materials to them.
Unexpectedly, a student comes up to you before heading into the classroom and gives you a gift and says, "Thank you". That act of kindness I can imagine would make you as a teacher feel more confident about pushing forward into the next semester, feel appreciated for the service you've provided, and feel like you've really made an impact in that student's life.
In two words: it's rewarding.
So, if you were to turn this around, imagine how your clients would feel if you personally thanked them for choosing you. And today, we're going to look at how you can created simple, personalized digital "Thank You" cards using Canva - a fantastic graphic design application that allows you to make a number of digital and print creations.
How to Create a Simple, Personalized "Thank You" with Canva
Step 1 - Go to Canva.com and sign up for a free account if you don't have one. If you have an account, you can log in.
Step 2 - Once you've signed up or logged in, choose the "Card" template under the "Events" section. We're going to use this template to create a Thank You card for a vision care center.
> This is what our completed design will look like:
Step 3 - In the application, you can change the card's background color by clicking on the "Background" menu and the "+" symbol. You can also change the pattern of the background under the provided color palettes. For this tutorial, we're going to leave the background white.
Step 4 - Next, we're going to add in our shapes. By click the "Elements" menu and the "Shapes" button, we're going to add a square to the right side of the card and change the color to a dark blue - one of the vision center's brand colors.
*Note - You can change the color of shapes by clicking the small colored square in the upper left corner.
Step 5 - For our next shape, we're going to add an outline of a square to the left side of the card. We'll also change its color to a dark blue.
Step 6 - Then, we're going to search for the term "glasses" to add an illustration of a pair of glasses. We'll recolor and shrink the illustration as we place it on the left side.
Step 7 - Now we'll focus on adding text. Select the "Text" menu and you can change the font and font size. This is where we'll add our note of thanks to a client who completed an appointment booked online with us.
Step 8 - Before we download the design, we're also going to add the name of the vision care center and two small accent diamonds around the name. (the accent is completely optional - you may want to add your logo)
Step 9 - And we're finished! To download the Thank You card, click on the "Download" button next to "Share" and choose your preferred format. Then select the green "Download" button to save your file to your computer.
If you're satisfied with this "Thank You" card, your business can re-use it and just change the name of the client before sending it in an email. Now, you've created a simple, personalized "Thank You" to reflect your business and thank clients for their trust and patronage.
